Rainbow Power Company Rallies for Mental Health – Every Dollar Matched for Mullets for Mental Health*
This April, the team at Rainbow Power Company (RPC) is making a bold statement—one mullet at a time. As part of Black Dog Institute’s Mullets for Mental Health, participating staff members are growing, styling, and proudly sporting mullets to raise awareness and much-needed funds for mental health research and support.
But this isn’t just about haircuts. For many on the RPC team, this cause is deeply personal. With a significant number of staff—including CEO Zach Rook—having been directly affected by suicide and mental health struggles, the team is determined to make a real impact.
To amplify their efforts, *Rainbow Power Company has pledged to match every dollar raised up to a maximum amount of $5,000, doubling the funds going towards mental health initiatives.
A Personal Mission for the Team
Mental health challenges are widespread, and suicide continues to be a devastating reality across Australia. Regional and rural communities, like those around Nimbin and the Northern Rivers, often face even greater barriers to accessing mental health support.
“Mental health is something that has touched nearly every single person in our company—myself included. We've lost colleagues, friends, and loved ones to suicide, and we know the impact it has on families and communities,” says RPC CEO Zach Rook.
“That’s why we’re not just growing mullets—we’re putting our money where our mouths are. For every dollar our community donates, Rainbow Power Company will match it.”* We want to see these funds go towards research and support that can save lives.”
Aiming for the Leaderboard
With their commitment to raising awareness and funds, RPC is aiming to make it onto the fundraising leaderboard for Mullets for Mental Health.
“We want to go big with this,” says Zach. “If we can get our community behind us, we can make a real difference—and maybe even claim a top spot on the leaderboard while we’re at it!”
