Deye App Guide

Overview

Your Deye system reports to a monitoring app – SOLARMAN Smart or Deye Cloud, depending on how it was set up – which shows live solar generation, battery charge, and grid import and export. The guides below cover the two jobs Deye owners most often need: reconnecting the system’s Wi-Fi after an internet change, and safely shutting the whole system down and starting it back up. Both are safe to do yourself and neither needs a service call.

1. Reconnecting your Wi-Fi

If you’ve changed your internet provider, router or Wi-Fi password, your system keeps generating as normal – but it can no longer report data, so the app shows it as offline. You reconnect it through the dongle’s own setup page, using your phone’s browser.

Step 1 – Connect your phone to the inverter

  1. Open the Wi-Fi settings on your phone (or computer).
  2. Connect to the network broadcast by the inverter’s Wi-Fi dongle. Its name matches your inverter’s serial number.
  3. When asked for a password, read it off the dongle label – it’s the run of numbers immediately before the letters PWD.

Step 2 – Open the dongle’s setup page

  1. Open a web browser (for example Safari) and type 10.10.100.254 into the address bar.
  2. At the login screen, enter admin as both the username and the password.

Step 3 – Point it at your home Wi-Fi

  1. Tap Wizard.
  2. Tap Refresh to scan for nearby networks.
  3. Select your home Wi-Fi network and tap Next.
  4. Enter your home Wi-Fi password and tap Next.
  5. The advanced security screen can be skipped for a normal home setup – tap Next again.
  6. Tap Finish.

Step 4 – Check it worked

  1. Look at the Wi-Fi dongle on the inverter.
  2. The Network LED turns green once it connects to the internet – your system is back online and sending data to the cloud.

Tip: the Deye Wi-Fi dongle only joins 2.4GHz networks, not 5GHz. If your home network hides both bands under one name, ask your provider how to connect to the 2.4GHz band.

2. Shutting down and restarting your system

There are two common reasons to fully power down your Deye system: an electrician or technician needs it completely de-energised before working on it, or the system has hit an internal fault that a full power cycle – much like restarting a computer – will often clear.

The golden rule: shut down from the edges of the system in towards its heart – appliances first, then switchboards, then the inverter, then the batteries. To start up again, reverse the order exactly.

Safety first: this procedure only involves the system’s switches, buttons and breakers. If you notice signs of burning, exposed wiring or a strong odour at any point, stop – leave the system off and contact Rainbow Power Company or a licensed electrician before restarting.

Shutting down

  1. Turn off your appliances – switch off high-draw appliances (computers, pool pumps, fridges, washing machines) at their power points. This means the inverter isn’t hit with a sudden surge when everything tries to boot at once on restart.
  2. Turn off the distribution boards – any subboards first, then switch every circuit breaker in the main distribution board to OFF.
  3. Turn off the inverter – the on/off button on the left-hand side of the Deye inverter.
  4. Turn off the PV (solar) switch – also on the left-hand side. The screen and lights may stay lit for a moment on residual battery power.
  5. Turn off the battery system – if your battery is in another room, turn off the isolation switch labelled Main Battery Isolator; if it’s beside the inverter, turn off the on/off button on the battery BMU on the right-hand side. Remove the safety cover and turn off the main breaker, then switch off each individual battery module in the stack (there can be up to six). When the inverter screen goes completely dark and all lights are out, the system is fully de-energised.

Restarting – the same steps in reverse:

  1. Turn on the battery modules – the breaker on each individual module first.
  2. Turn on the BMU – switch on the main DC isolator on the BMU, then switch the battery on; indicator lights appear as power comes up. If you have an external DC isolator, turn that on now as well.
  3. Turn on the PV switch – left-hand side of the inverter, back to ON.
  4. Turn on the inverter – press the on/off button. The screen lights up, and it can take up to a minute to settle into its normal routine. The system is fully operational when both the DC light and the Normal light are solid green.
  5. Turn on the switchboards – switch the breakers back on in the main distribution board, then any subboards.
  6. Restart appliances gradually – go around the house and turn things back on one by one rather than all at once, keeping the load gentle on the inverter.

Tip: a printed sticker with these step-by-step shutdown and startup instructions is on the right-hand side of the system unit, so you’re never without them at the switchboard.
