Overview

iSolarCloud is Sungrow’s monitoring app for your inverter and battery. It shows live solar generation, battery charge, grid import and export, and lets you adjust how your system behaves. The short video guides below walk through the tasks Rainbow Power customers ask us about most.

Screens can differ slightly between app versions and inverter models. If your app doesn’t match the video exactly, the settings are usually in the same place under a slightly different name – and you can always contact our support team.

Getting started and the full walkthrough

When your system is commissioned you’ll get an email titled “Welcome to iSolarCloud” with links to download the app and a temporary password. Log in with your email and that password.

Trouble signing in? The most common cause is the wrong server: make sure the app is set to the Australian server, not the international one.

1. Getting around the app

What the video covers

  1. The energy flow pictogram – a live picture of your solar production, home usage, battery state of charge (SOC), and grid import and export.
  2. A real-time energy audit – switch on a heavy appliance such as an air conditioner, check the app 2–3 minutes later, and you’ll see exactly how much power it draws.
  3. The daily graph – a 24-hour history, with a green line tracking your battery’s SOC through the day.
  4. Matching your bill – set a custom date range to line up with your billing cycle, so you can compare the app’s figures against your electricity bill.

2. Changing or reconnecting Wi-Fi

If you’ve changed your internet provider, router or Wi-Fi password, your system keeps generating as normal – but it can no longer report data, so the app shows it as offline. You can fix this yourself in a few minutes.

Easiest fix first

If you’ve only switched provider or router, log into your new router and set its Wi-Fi name and password to match your old ones. Your system will reconnect on its own, with nothing to change in the app.

  1. Open iSolarCloud and go to Support > WLAN Configuration.
  2. Older inverters: scan the QR code when prompted.
  3. Newer inverters: choose Manual entry > Inverter and enter the serial number (on the right-hand side of the unit).
  4. Refresh the Wi-Fi list, select your home network and enter the password.
  5. Wait about 5 minutes for the system to reconnect and data to reappear.

Tip: Sungrow Wi-Fi dongles only join 2.4GHz networks, not 5GHz. If your home network hides both under one name, ask your provider how to connect to the 2.4GHz band.

3. Force charging your battery (Quick charge)

Force charging tops your battery up from the grid on demand – handy when severe weather is forecast (say a flood warning) and there’s little solar to fill it. In iSolarCloud this is the Quick charge feature.

Steps

  1. Tap the bolt icon in the top-right corner of the app.
  2. Select Quick charge.
  3. Choose a power level: Maximum, 50% or 25%.
  4. Choose how long to charge for: 30 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours.
  5. Confirm – the battery starts charging from the grid straight away.

4. Using free power periods (and selling back)

Some electricity plans include a daily “free power” window, often a few hours in the middle of the day. You can use Quick charge to fill your battery while power is free, and Quick discharge to sell power back during peak times.

  1. Check your electricity plan for its exact free power window (for example, three hours in the middle of the day).
  2. Schedule a Quick charge to match that window, aiming for at least 80% so the battery still fills on cloudy days when solar won’t.

  1. Schedule a Quick discharge during peak times – for example, 50% over one hour between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm – to export stored power and earn a feed-in rebate.
  2. Check with your energy retailer first: some run this automatically at their end, others expect you to set it manually in the app.

Free power and feed-in rebates are features of specific retail electricity plans, not of your solar system. Availability, times and rates vary by retailer and plan – check yours before changing any settings. Savings depend on your usage and plan and are not guaranteed.

5. Troubleshooting the app

The two issues we’re asked about most: getting back online after an internet change, and checking your system when the app can’t reach it.

Usually a new modem or provider has changed your Wi-Fi. Reconnect using the steps in section 2 (Support > WLAN Configuration, then QR code or manual entry). Data uploads in intervals rather than live, so allow 10–15 minutes after reconnecting.

You don’t need the app to see live figures. Tap the black display box on the inverter to wake its screen – it shows PAC (the live power coming off your roof right now) and SOC (your battery’s current state of charge).
