Victron Product Guide

Overview

Victron Energy products form the backbone of many Rainbow Power Company systems, known for their modularity, reliability, and integration flexibility. Their range supports everything from small stand-alone power systems to fully networked off-grid and hybrid installations.

Each device in the Victron ecosystem communicates through standard interfaces (VE.Bus, VE.Direct, VE.Can), allowing seamless control, monitoring, and data sharing between inverters, charge controllers, batteries, and sensors. When combined with the Victron GX communication platform and VRM Portal, users gain a unified monitoring and control experience across all devices, ideal for off-grid homes, hybrid farms, and commercial solar systems.

Why We Use Victron

Victron Energy has been a trusted technology partner of Rainbow Power Company for decades. Their products are built for long-term field reliability and ease of maintenance, key qualities for remote and rural power systems.

Applications Across RPC Systems

Residential & Hybrid Solar

Victron’s MultiPlus-II inverter/chargers combine solar, battery and grid inputs for energy security and self-consumption. Ideal for homes transitioning to solar autonomy.

Typical System: MultiPlus-II + SmartSolar MPPT + Lithium Battery Smart + Cerbo GX.

Off-Grid Cabins & Tiny Homes

Phoenix Inverters and SmartSolar controllers deliver reliable AC power for small stand-alone systems. Lightweight, low-idle consumption units make them ideal for cabins and weekenders.

Typical System: Phoenix Inverter + SmartSolar MPPT + AGM or Lithium Battery Smart.

Commercial & Community Power

For larger installations, Victron’s Quattro and MultiPlus units allow parallel operation and three-phase designs. When paired with Venus OS devices and the VRM portal, they provide real-time monitoring and load management for critical facilities.

Typical System: 3 × Quattro 10 kVA in parallel + SmartSolar 250/100 controllers + Venus GX.

Mobile, Marine & Industrial Applications
Victron’s heritage in marine and automotive power means robust hardware for mobile setups. Alternator charging, AC transfer, and shore power integration make them suitable for boats, caravans and service vehicles.

Integration & System Design

All Victron systems are built on open communication standards to enable scalability and flexibility.

Integration Component Description
GX Devices (Cerbo GX, Venus GX) Act as the system brain, linking inverters, batteries, and sensors to the VRM Portal.
VRM Portal Cloud monitoring for data logging, alerts and remote configuration.
VictronConnect App Bluetooth or VE.Direct configuration of SmartSolar MPPTs and inverters.
AC & DC Coupling Supports both AC-coupled and DC-coupled battery storage designs for hybrid systems.
Third-Party Integration Compatible with Fronius inverters, SMA devices, and open BMS protocols via Modbus TCP.
